DAVID B. SUCH
“I love using my dip pen and appreciate the metaphor of drawing with indelible ink on paper. Mistakes cannot be erased but are blended into the drawing, and this can result in something more interesting. The same is true about redeeming mistakes in real life. Also, I prefer the distinct contrast of black on white, and for me, the visceral feeling of drawing with ink on paper surpasses anything digital.”
David B. Such is a left-handed mechanical engineer who has worked with turbines and other machinery for over four decades. Off the job, he retreats to his home in the foothills of Colorado, where, contrasted to his industrial work environment, he appreciates close connections with natural surroundings and enjoys reading, writing, drawing, and gardening. His essays, poetry, and drawings have appeared in Weber - The Contemporary West, The T.J. Eckleburg Review, Penumbra: Literary and Art Journal, The Flagler Review, and elsewhere.
